Made In Michigan

Real stories of people building something in Michigan.

We’re highlighting businesses, creators, and individuals doing interesting things across the state.

What Is This?

Made in Michigan is a series of short films about people who have dedicated themselves to something — a craft, a business, a way of life — and have a story that actually deserves to be told.

We’re not looking for average.

We’re looking for the ones who’ve put years into something, who care deeply about what they do, or who are doing something genuinely different.

This isn’t a commercial, and it’s not news. Each story is filmed more like a documentary — focused on personality, process, and what makes someone stand out.

Some people spend their entire lives building something — and no one ever hears about it. This is our way of changing that.

Created by SJK Productions, a Michigan-based video team, this is our way of telling real stories in a more intentional, cinematic way.

Who Is This For?

This is for people who have really put time into something.

Not just starting out. Not testing an idea.

People who’ve committed — to a craft, a business, or just a way of living — and stuck with it.

The kind of person where, once you hear what they do, you lean in a little.

They don’t need to be polished or perfect on camera — just real, comfortable being themselves, and open to letting us capture what they actually do.

If there’s a space, a routine, or a process that’s been built over time, that’s usually where the best stories are.

This Isn't a Fit If...

This isn’t a fit if… you’re looking for a promotional video, or something polished and scripted to advertise a business.

That’s not what this is.

It’s also probably not the right fit if the story isn’t really there yet — or if being on camera, in a real and unscripted way, doesn’t feel comfortable.

This series works best with people who are open to letting things be captured as they actually are, without trying to shape it into something it’s not.

What To Expect

If selected, the process is simple.

We’ll plan a time to come out and spend a couple hours with you or the person you nominated — usually around 1–2 hours total. Most of that is just capturing them in their environment, doing what they normally do.

There’s typically a short, relaxed interview as well. Nothing scripted — just a conversation about their story, what they’ve put into it, and how it all came to be.

We’re not trying to stage anything or make it feel polished. The goal is to keep it natural and real, and let the story speak for itself. A lot of people have stories that deserve to be told — this is just a way to capture them honestly.

The final video is a short, cinematic piece that will be shared as part of the Made in Michigan series.

No acting or experience needed — just being themselves is enough.
